Deacons Compete At USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

PALO ALTO, Calif. - Five members of the Wake Forest track & field team competed this past weekend in the USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships at Stanford University's Cobb Track and Angell Field.
Anne Bersagel finished her sophomore year with a time of 33:47.48 in the 10,000m for ninth place.
Nikeya Green qualified for the 800m semifinals with a time of 2:05.22 in the preliminaries, but she missed the cut for the 800m finals with a time of 2:14.47 in the semifinals, taking 16th place in the last race of her junior year.
Former Demon Deacon standout and current Wake Forest assistant coach Jill Snyder ran a 4:19.35 in the women's 1,500m preliminaries, finishing 20th and missing the cut. Nolan Swanson, a former distance runner at Wake Forest placed 15th in the men's 10,000m with a time of 29:39.47 and Wake Forest Sports Hall of Fame member Andy Bloom finished eighth in the men's discus throw with a mark of 186-10.
In the junior competition, freshman Lindsay Neuberger placed 12th in the junior women's shot put with a throw of 45-0.25, while freshmen Eric Seely and Willie Idlette ran in the junior men's 200m preliminaries. Both missed the cut, as Seely finished 10th with a 22.06 and Idlette ran a 22.34 for 18th place.
