Winston-Salem, N.C. - The No.1-ranked Demon Deacon field hockey team hosts Radford on Wednesday. Game time in Kentner Stadium is set for 7 p.m. The Deacons are 13-2 while the Highlanders are 5-8. The game will be the last home game of the regular season for Wake Forest.

"We are excited to host Radford," said Deacon head coach Jennifer Averill. "We learned a lot from last weekends' game. We will try to perform more consistently and to play well from start to finish, in both halves, on Wednesday."

The Deacons lead the all-time series, 10-6-1 and hold a current winning streak of eight games. The Highlanders have scored only three times in the last eight meetings, resulting in six Deacon shutouts. Radford has not beaten the Deacons since a 1-0 win on Oct. 7, 1992.

The teams met most recently on Sept. 18, 2002. The Deacons claimed a decisive, 7-0 victory, with goals from Kelly Doton (2), Emily Ruth (2), Katie Ackerman, Heather Aughinbaugh and Kelly Dostal. Merrilee Robbins, the newest member of the 2004 Deacon squad, played the entire second half, posting one save, on the only Highlander shot of the day.

Wake Forest is 13-2, after a 1-0 road win against Virginia Commonwealth last Saturday. The Deacons wrap up regular season play with a trip to Charlottesville on Oct. 24. The 1 p.m. date with the Cavaliers will be the final regular season game for the Deacons as well as the final ACC-counted game for Wake Forest.
