Ross Advances in the 2004 ITA All-American Championship

Chattanooga, Tenn. - Junior Brett Ross, along with fellow teammates Andrew Hamar and Todd Paul, are participating in the 2004 ITA Men's All-American Championship starting from October 1-10. After participating in three rounds of play in the qualifying singles bracket, Ross' latest victory has landed him a spot in the main draw of the tournament.
Ross began his winning streak with a win over Jason Pinsky of Vanderbilt in the round of 128, 7-6(5), 6-3. In the round of 64, Ross defeated Miami's Eric Hechtman, 6-1, 7-6(3). The victory that sealed Ross' entry into the main draw came during the round of 32 play against Virginia's Treat Huey. Ross won the first set 6-2; however, after Ross led 1-0 in the second set, Huey retired due to an injury. In the main draw, Ross will take on Auburn's Gabor Zolton Pelva in the round of 64.
Ross' teammates Hamar and Paul competed in the qualifying singles round of 128. Paul was defeated by Nebraska's Gerard Pasch, 5-7, 0-6. Hamar also bowed out to UAB's Sebastian Falk, 2-6, 1-6. In qualifying doubles action, the team of Hamar/Paul lost in the round of 128 to Oregon's Kost/Schiller, 7-9.
