WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-- Six different Wake Forest batters contributed two hits as the Demon Deacons defeated Georgia Tech, 8-4 Saturday afternoon at Hooks Stadium. Ben Ingold and Doug Riepe each homered for the Deacs who improved to 11-8 overall and picked up their first ACC victory of the season. Georgia Tech was led by Eric Patterson who had three hits but the Yellow Jackets fell to 12-10, 1-4 in the ACC.

Wake Forest jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Matt Antonelli and Ingold reached base on consecutive singles, then with two outs, Steve LeFaivre blooped another single into short leftfield, bringing Antonelli home with the first run of the game. The next batter was catcher Ryder Mathias who lifted a towering fly ball into right field which Tech's Clifton Remole lost in the sun and wind. The ball dropped, allowing Ingold and LeFaivre to come around and score.

A two-out, two-run home run over the trees in left field in the bottom of the fourth by Ingold extended the Demon Deacon lead to 5-0. Antonelli had kept the inning going one batter earlier with a double off the end of his bat and came around to score his team leading 25th run of the season on Ingold's blast.

Georgia Tech put together a two-out rally in the top of the sixth. An RBI single by Georgia Tech's Micah Owings scored Brandon Boggs and gave the Yellow Jackets their first run of the game off of Young. Remole kept the inning going with a single up the middle and Whit Robbins brought Owings around on an RBI single of his own, cutting Wake's lead to 6-2.

The Yellow Jackets and Deacons traded a pair of runs in the late innings, one of which came in the form of a Riepe home run for Wake Forest. Demon Deacon starter Kyle Young picked up his third win of the season with seven innings of solid work while Tech's Brian Burks suffered his second loss. Charlie Mellies pitched the final two innings for Wake Forest, earning his first save of the season.

The Demon Deacons and Yellow Jackets wrap up their ACC series Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Hooks Stadium.
