Track and Field Travels To Virginia Tech Invitational

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Wake Forest track and field teams opens their 2005 indoor season schedules in Blacksburg, Va. on Friday afternoon, at the Virginia Tech Invitational. The Deacons are among 18 participating schools in the two day event.
Among this weekends opponents are ACC rivals Maryland, Virginia and conference newcomer Virginia Tech. Also included are Charleston Southern, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, Georgetown, Hampton, James Madison, Lynchburg College, Radford, Richmond, South Carolina, South Carolina State, St. Augustine's College, Tennessee and Virginia Military Institute.
"A small group of middle distance runners will open the season this weekend," said the track and field program director Annie Bennett "while the rest will prepare for next weekend's meet."
Events will take place from 4:30-8:40 pm on Friday, followed by Saturday's events from 10:00 am to 4:35 pm. Results of both day's performances will be posted at the end of each day. Contact Laura Culbertson at Virginia Tech with further questions.
The Deacons travel to Johnson City, Tenn. as East Tennessee State University hosts the Niswonger Invitational next weekend.
