West Lafayette, IN - The Wake Forest women's tennis team picked up a win Sunday against 46th ranked Purdue in their fourth straight road match. The Demon Deacons defeated Purdue 5-2 at the Lafayette Sports Center and have posted a record of 2-2 during their current seven match road swing.

Wake Forest (4-2) dropped the early doubles point by losing two of the three doubles positions, however, held on strong in the singles competition to come away with five straight singles victories over the Boilermakers. The number one doubles team of Ashlee Davis and Katie Martzolf defeated Shawna Zuccarini and Lara Burgarello 8-5 to record Wake Forest's only doubles win.

The five singles wins were essential for the Wake Forest victory. Davis, playing number one singles, lost the first set 6-1 against 71st ranked Hala Sufi of Purdue, however, came back strong in the final two sets winning 7-6, 6-1. At number two singles, 16th ranked Karin Coetzee defeated Stephanie Wooten 6-2, 6-2. Katie Martzolf was a winner for Wake Forest at the number three spot by knocking off Zuccarini 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. Finally, Alex Hirsch defeated Burgarello 6-3, 6-4, and Blakely Offutt got a win at number six singles over Brittany Minna 6-4, 6-1.

The Demon Deacons return to action next weekend at Tennessee on February 20 at 1pm.
