Wake Forest Women's Tennis Falls to #11 Miami

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Senior Karin Coetzee earned the Demon Deacons only singles victory as the #31 Wake Forest women's tennis team fell to #11 Miami, 6-1, Sunday afternoon in Leighton Tennis Stadium.
With the loss, the Deacs drop to 9-8 overall and 2-4 in the ACC, while the Hurricanes improve to 17-2 overall and 8-0 in the conference.
The Hurricanes jumped out to an early lead, winning the doubles point, 2-1. The Deacon pair of Danielle Schwartz and Blakley Offutt earned the only win for Wake, defeating Emily Mowery and Patricia Starzyk, 8-4.
In singles, Coetzee got the only point for Wake, defeating Staci Stevens in three sets. After dropping the first, 3-6, she came back and took the next two, 7-5, 6-2. Currently ranked #30, the win for Coetzee is her sixth straight and improves her to 19-9 overall on the year.
Wake Forest will return to the court Wednesday, April 6 at 4 p.m. to host Duke University.
