Winston-Salem, NC - The Wake Forest track and field teams travel to Princeton, NJ for the Sam Howell this weekend. Friday will feature Deacons in the discus throw, the 3,000m steeplechase, the 5k and the 10k. Remaining events will take place on Saturday.
"This week will be the final meet prior to the ACC Championship for the majority of the squad," said assistant track and field director Scott Hall. "So this meet is very important in our preparation for the conference championship. We are looking forward to competing against some schools that we don't see very often. There should be good competition in each event, yet very manageable field sizes which should allow for some quality performances."
The women's team, ranked 15th nationally by this weeks Trackwire poll, looks to add to its four person list of regional qualifiers, while the men hope to expand upon their two man regional qualifying squad.
The Sam Howell field includes Princeton, Army, Monmouth, Manhattan, Syracuse and some smaller area schools.
Select Deacon team members will compete at the Sea Ray Relays April 15-16 in Knoxville, Tenn. The Deacons travel to Tallahassee, Fla., for the ACC Championship April 21-23.
