Sacramento, Calif. - Senior Annie Bersagel finished sixth in the 10,000 meter race on Thursday night at the 2005 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Sacramento, Calif. Her performance earned her All-American honors for the third straight season in the event. Junior Lindsay Neuberger broke her own school in the shot put, finishing 15th in the qualifying round of that event.
Bersagel's sixth place finish was her best in three years of competing at the NCAA Championship. The Greeley, Colo., native finished seventh in 2003 and eighth in 2004. She ran 33:28.63, just 26 seconds behind the leader on Thursday. Bersagel captured the 10k title at the 2004 and 2005 ACC Championship meets.
Despite breaking her own school record and offering her best performance of the season, junior Lindsay Neuberger finished 15th during the qualifying round of the shot put event, just missing the cut to advance to the finals (top-12 advance). The Virginia Beach, Va., native saved her best for last, tossing throws of 14.38m, 15.02m and 15.45m. Her third throw, 50-08.25, bettered her previous season and personal best of 50-07.25.
One of the most successful in school history, the 2005 outdoor track and field season comes to an end for the Deacons with the conclusion of today's events.
