Winston-Salem, N.C. - Assistant track and field coach Jill Snyder Kerr will resign her position on August 10, 2005 to take a teaching position at Bishop McGuinness High School in nearby Kernersville, N.C. Snyder, a five-time All-American at Wake Forest from 1998-2001, spent three years on staff as an assistant coach for the track and field team.

"The years that I have spent at Wake Forest have been a wonderful experience," said Kerr. "I am thankful to have been part of the Wake Forest family for so long. I will always remain a huge fan of the program."

"Jill has been a tremendous asset from the first day I showed up on campus," said director of track and field Annie Bennett. "She's a very detail oriented person with a great history and knowledge. I'm sad to see her go, but at the same time excited as she moves on to a new phase of her life to do something that is very important to her."

Snyder helped coach the 2002 ACC Women's Cross Country team, and she helped lead the Deacons to back-to-back NCAA appearances in 2002 and 2003. She stepped in as head coach to help the Deacons take ninth place at the 2002 NCAA Cross Country Championships in Indiana while Bennett gave birth to her son Michael in Winston-Salem. Snyder's specific responsibilities included coaching the middle distances, assisting with strength training, recruiting, alumni relations and banquets/awards.

Snyder earned All-American honors in both the mile and the distance medley relay in 2001.

Snyder was a four-time ACC champion and earned All-ACC distinction seven times during her career, dominating the Mile Run, 1,500-Meter Run, 800-Meter Run and Distance Medley Relay.

Honored as Wake Forest's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 1998-99, Snyder was named to the Women's Cross Country Academic All-America team in 1998.
