Yates Qualifies For U.S. Amateur

Advance, N.C. - Wake Forest rising senior Alex Yates became the third Demon Deacon to qualify for the U.S. Amateur after firing rounds of 71 and 67 at Oak Valley Golf Club. Yates, a Winston-Salem product, finished as the medalist in the sectional qualifier with his six-under par total of 138.

Yates joins Deacon senior Kyle Reifers and sophomore Webb Simpson in the field. Reifers qualified by being named to the Walker Cup while Simpson went the sectional qualifier route as well.

The U.S. Amateur will be contested at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa. August 22-28.
