Deacons Ranked High In Southeast Region

Four Wake Forest players are ranked in the top 30 and three Demon Deacon doubles teams in the top 15 in the Fila Southeast Regional Women's Tennis Rankings announced today. The rankings encompass every Division I women's tennis team in the southeastern United States heading into the spring season.

Wake Forest junior All-American candidate Alex Hirsch is ranked No. 6 in the region and third among ACC players in the region. Tennessee's Blakely Griffith is ranked No. 1, followed by Vanderbilt's Amanda Fish.

Three other Demon Deacons are ranked in the top 30. Senior Ashlee Davis, who advanced in the ITA Southeast Regional Indoor Championships in October, is ranked 14th. Wake sophomore Christian Tara is ranked 17th and sophomore Sierra Poske is ranked 30th.

All three Deacon doubles teams earned top-15 rankings.

The doubles team of Hirsch and Poske came in at No. 8. Tara and sophomore Ana Jerman are ranked 11th and Davis and freshman Sasha Kulikova are ranked 15th in the region.

Wake Forest kicks off the spring season Jan. 27 in Minneapolis (Minn.) against South Alabama.
