Women's Golf Falls to Fifth at Northrop Grumman

Palos Verdes Estates, Calif. - The Wake Forest women's golf team dropped to fifth place after the second round of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge with a second round total of 303, 19-over par, on Monday. The Demon Deacons have a two-round total of 603, 36-over par.
USC has the 36-hole lead with a 23-over par total of 591. Arizona State is second just one shot behind. Oklahoma State is third with a 30-over total of 598. California is fourth with a 603 total, 35-over par. The Deacs round out the top-five. The Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge is being contested at Palos Verdes Golf Club. The par is 71 and yardage is 5,912 yards.
Once again, Nannette Hill led the way for the Deacons firing a two-over par 73. The freshman shot a first round 72, one-over par, giving her a two-round total of 145, three-over. Hill currently stands in a tie for fifth.
Junior Mandy Goins shot a five-over par 76 and stands in a tie for 12th at 150, eight-over par. Freshman Jean Chua carded a four-over par 75 and stands in a tie for 16th at 152, 10-over.
Sophomore Laura Crawford shot her second consecutive round of 79, eight-uover par and is tied for 50th at 16-over par. Junior Maggie Simons struggled on Tuesday and added a 16-over 87 for the Deacons. Simons stands at 165, 23-over par.
Senior Julie McKenna is also competing in the event as an individual. McKenna shot a 19-over 90 and has a two-round total of 178.
California's Sophia Sheridan has the individual lead at even par, 140. USC's Irene Cho and Paola Moreno and Arizona State's Jennifer Osborn are tied for second at one-over par. Hill and California's Sofie Andersson are tied for fifth at three-over par.
