WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest field hockey team placed seven athletes on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Region lists as announced Wednesday by the organization.

Emily Cummings, Aileen Davis, Minou Gimbrere and Michelle Kasold picked up first team honors for the 2007 season.

Freshman midfielder/back Emily Cummings is the youngest first team member. The Johnson City, N.Y. native has started and played in 19 matches this season, putting up six goals, including one in the NCAA Tournament first round against Michigan State last Friday.

Fellow midfielders Minou Gimbrere and Michelle Kasold lead the Demon Deacons in assists, with 9 and 12, respectively. Kasold landed two goals in the opening rounds of this year's NCAA Tournament, including the game-winner over Michigan State in the first round match. Gimbrere had the game-winning assist in the second round contest vs. Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Sophomore back Aileen Davis has started all 21 contests for Wake Forest in 2007 and holds three goals and four assists for the season. Davis had the game-winning goal over Michigan last Sunday to propel the Deacons to the NCAA Final Four for the eighth consecutive season.

Jen Averill's squad also placed three members on the regional second team: Chelsea Cipriani, Liz Fries and Melissa Martin.

Cipriani's 12 goals sets the New Jersey native in the Deacs' leading scorer position for the season. Cipriani tacked on her most recent goal in the Michigan match up over the weekend.

Backfield members and season-long starters Martin and Fries round out the Demon Deacon NFHCA selections for 2007. Martin put up eight goals and six assists this season while Fries has seven goals and two assists.

The Demon Deacons are currently preparing for the NCAA Final Four, set to begin at the University of Maryland on Friday. Wake Forest will open play with Penn State at 7:30 p.m.
