Winston-Salem, N.C. - The eyes of college tennis will be on Leighton Tennis Stadium on Wednesday when seventh-ranked Wake Forest hosts sixth-ranked North Carolina. First serve is set for 3:00 p.m.
Coach Jeff Zinn's Demon Deacons (14-2, 2-1 ACC), currently holding their highest ranking in program history, face a Tar Heel squad that is undefeated this year at 14-0 overall and 2-0 in the ACC.
Wake Forest is looking to rebound from only its second loss of the season, a 4-2 defeat to second-ranked Virginia. The Deacons had been on their longest winning streak since the 2002 campaign.
North Carolina's last four wins have all come on the road against nationally-ranked opponents, most recently a 4-3 victory at 26th-ranked Clemson.
Wake Forest will be looking for its fourth win against a top-20 rival. The Deacons have already defeated 18th-ranked Old Dominion, 14th-ranked Pepperdine and 20th-ranked NC State.
The Tar Heels lead the all-time series 32-9. The Deacons, though, have won three of the last four meetings, including last year's 4-3 win in Chapel Hill when North Carolina was ranked 11th.
The weather forecast for Wednesday afternoon calls for temperatures in the low-80's. Admission is free.
