
Deacs Deny Eagles, Cruise to 6-1 Victory

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The 17th-ranked Wake Forest women's tennis team won its third straight Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) match defeating the Boston College Eagles, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon at Leighton Tennis Stadium. The Demon Deacons improved to 11-4 overall and 5-2 in league play, while the Eagles dropped to 4-10 overall and 0-6 in the ACC.
In doubles, Wake Forest quickly clinched the point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. Sasha Kulikova and Ana Jerman defeated Brittany Delaney and Alina Sullivan 8-3, while Christine Simpson and Sierra Poske handed Gia Nafarrete and Lana Krasnopolsky an 8-4 defeat.
The Deacs dominated in singles winning the first set in all six singles matches. Jerman had no problem at the No. 2 spot, defeating Cash 6-2, 6-1, while Simpson blanked Delaney in straight 6-0 sets at the fifth position. Kulikova came from behind to defeat Dasha Cherkasov 7-5 in the first set and grabbed another point for the Deacons winning 6-1 in the second set. Poske put away Sullivan 6-3, 6-4, while Jenna Loeb picked up her first conference win with a 6-4, 6-0 over Sarah Svoboda at No. 6.
Boston College's lone point came at No. 1 singles where Krasnopolsky defeated Davis 3-6, 6-3, 10-7.
Wake Forest continues action at home with a noon match on Sunday against No. 75 Maryland.
