
NCAA Tennis Selection Show Set for Tuesday on ESPNews

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The nationally-ranked Wake Forest men's and women's tennis teams anxiously await for the 2007 NCAA Tennis Championship Selection Show on Tuesday, May 1 when the tournament brackets are revealed. The field of 64 along with the 16 regional host sites will be announced at 2:30 p.m. (EDT) on ESPNews.
The Wake Forest men's team has appeared in the NCAA Tournament each of the last six seasons and seven of the last nine.
The Deacons, currently ranked 13th, have advanced to the round of 32 three times but have never broken into the round of 16.
Individually, the Deacons are led by senior All-American Todd Paul who was ranked number one earlier this year. Currently ranked 10th, Paul owns a 32-7 record, including a 21-5 mark in the spring.
Sophomore Cory Parr is ranked 69th nationally. The All-ACC selection is 18-6 at the number two position, including a 4-3 record against ranked opponents. Wake Forest's top doubles team is Mariusz Adamski and Paul. Since teaming up this spring, the pair has posted an 18-8 record and currently owns its highest ranking of the year at number nine.
The women's team has appeared in the tournament 12 of the last 13 seasons and is looking for its fourth straight appearance.
Junior All-ACC selection Alexandra Hirsch leads the team with a No. 64 national ranking in singles, while sophomore Christian Tara and Ashlee Davis are both ranked in the top 125. Hirsch and Davis pair up for a No. 27 national ranking, while Ana Jerman and Sasha Kulikova are ranked for the first time this season checking in at No. 54.
The NCAA first and second rounds will take place May 11-12 at selected sites across the country, with the Final 16 to be held in Athens, Ga., May 17-20. - WakeForestSports.com -
