Second Round Results in PDF Format 
The No. 12 Wake Forest men's golf team bettered its first round score by ten strokes to finish the second round in 23rd place at the NCAA Championship at Purdue.
The Deacons must finish in the top 15 at the conclusion of Friday's third round to advance to Saturday's final round.
Wake faced a similar predicament last season in Williamsburg, Va. when the Deacs found themselves tied for 26th place entering the third round. Wake did not make the cut for the final round in 2007.
Brendan Gielow posted the best score of the second round for the Deacons as the sophomore finished Thursday with a one-under 71. Gielow is six over par for the first two rounds.
Gielow had an up and down start to the day. He birdied hole two, bogeyed three and eagled four before recording another bogey on hole four. Gielow is currently tied for 32nd.
Webb Simpson, playing in his final collegiate event, shot a five-over 77 for the second round. Simpson entered Thursday tied for seventh place but fell in a tie for 32nd. Simpson posted two birdies on the day.
Simpson and Gielow were named to the PING All-Region team Thursday.
Chris McCartin, also playing in his final collegiate event, matched Simpson's five-over 77 Thursday. McCartin topped his first round score by seven strokes and recorded back-to-back birdies on holes six and seven.
McCartin is 17 over par for the tournament.
Dustin Groves posted a seven-over 79 in the second round and is 15 over par for the tournament. The junior is playing in his second NCAA Championship.
Travis Wadkins continued to struggle with the par-72, 7,450-yard Kampen Course as the sophomore carded a 16-over 88 Thursday.
The Deacs are 12 strokes behind 15th-place Alabama entering the third round.
Clemson made a strong charge in the second round behind an even-par 288. The Tigers are currently in first place. UCLA and Southern California, which entered the second round tied for the lead, fell into second and third respectively.
Leading the individual race is Billy Horschel of Florida at five under par.
Live video will be available for the third and fourth rounds of the NCAA Championship on Golfstat.com along with the usual live scoring and course statistics. The video feed for the third round will be broadcast Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
A high of 82 degrees with a 60 percent chance of mid-afternoon thunderstorms has been projected for the third round by Weather.com.
