Da Luz Earns National Recognition from College Soccer News, Top Drawer Soccer

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest senior midfielder Austin da Luz collected a pair of national honors on Monday, receiving recognition from College Soccer News and Top Drawer Soccer for his play in a pair of victories last week for the Demon Deacons.
Da Luz was named the National Player of the Week by College Soccer News and was named to Top Drawer Soccer's Team of the Week.
A native of Winston-Salem, da Luz tallied six points in a pair of victories last week for the fifth-ranked Demon Deacons. Da Luz assisted on Anthony Arena's game-winning goal in a 1-0 win against College of Charleston. In a 4-1 win against NC State on Saturday, da Luz scored the game winner and assisted on Wake's other three goals. The five points against the Wolfpack tied a career high.
For the season, da Luz leads the team with 17 points, scoring three goals and adding an Atlantic Coast Conference leading 11 assists. Da Luz has also directly contributed on seven of Wake Forest's nine game-winning goals, scoring one game winner and assisting on six other game-winning goals.
Da Luz has 35 assists over his four-year career, which ranks as the most in school history. He has also scored 10 goals to give him 55 career points.
Wake Forest returns to action this week with a pair of games. The Deacs travel to Columbia, S.C., to face the South Carolina Gamecocks on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in a non-conference match. On Saturday, Wake plays host to No. 9 Maryland in a crucial ACC match. Start time against the Terrapins is at 7 p.m.
