WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Wake Forest sophomore Dina Nosenko has been named the King Fisher Society Student-Athlete of the Week.
The award, sponsored by the King Fisher Society, seeks to honor a student-athlete who has excelled both on and off the playing field as a Demon Deacon.
Nosenko has had a good start to the 2010 season. She won the mile run at the NY Armory Event last weekend with an indoor-best time of 4:49.74. That time is now seventh-best in the ACC this winter. She also turned in a strong time of 9:35.50 in the 3,000m run at the Virginia Tech Elite Meet on Feb. 5, finishing second.
The sophomore will also run a key leg in the women's distance medley relay next week at the ACC Indoor Championships. Last season, she finished fifth in the mile at the ACC Indoors and then later ran a superb mile to help the DMR team to a fourth place finish.
Nosenko, a native of Ukraine, is also doing very well in the classroom. She earned Dean's List and ACC Honor Roll honors last season as a freshman and will focus on a major in psychology.
