Clifford Irving Neal Throws Complex Dedication

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - On Saturday, March 20, Wake Forest held a ceremony to dedicate it throws complex in honor of the late Cliff Neal. The naming of the Clifford Irving Neal Throws Complex was held in conjunction with the Wake Forest Open.

Neal was a two-time All-ACC performer and the Wake Forest record-holder in the men's hammer throw. He set the mark of 194-10 on his way to winning the 2002 ACC Championship. He also earned All-ACC honors with a third place finish in the weight throw at 2000 Indoor Championships.
Neal, who was a Winston-Salem native, was a four-year letterwinner for the Demon Deacon track & field program. After graduating in 2002, he was working towards a law degree at UNC Chapel Hill when he died suddenly in December of 2004, at the age of 24.
