CLEMSON, SC - Senior Brent LaRue capped off a sensational weekend with a victory in the men's 400m hurdles on the final day of the 2010 Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

LaRue won his first 400m hurdles title by outdueling Virginia's Steve Delice down the stretch. LaRue crossed the line in 50.85, just ahead of Delice at 50.94. The third place finisher, Spencer Adams of Clemson, finished almost two second behind the duo at 52.14.

This is LaRue's fourth ACC Title as he won the indoor heptathlon in 2006 and was a member of the victorious 4x400m relay teams at both the 2006 indoor and outdoor championships.

LaRue had a great weekend as he ran a 14.05 to finish sixth in the 110m hurdles earlier on Saturday and jumped a personal-best of 23-07.50 in the long jump on Friday to take fourth in that event. He then ran the opening leg of the 4x400m relay that finished fourth with a time of 3:11.40.

Junior Anna Nosenko also completed a tremendous weekend as she pulled the double and won the women's 5,000m run on Saturday with a time of 16:14.09. Nosenko also won the 10,000m run Thursday night becoming the second Demon Deacon to won both events at the same meet. All-American Michelle Sikes first pulled the feat back in 2007.

This is the fifth All-ACC honors of Nosenko's career as she also earned All-ACC honors in both the 3k and 5k events during the 2010 indoor season and the 5k event at the 2009 indoor championships.

In the team standings, the Wake Forest men's team finished sixth with a total of 60 points which is the highest team finish since 2006 when the Deacs finished third. On the women's side, the Deacons finished with 31 points and tied for tenth.

"The men's team did extremely well this weekend and I'm really proud of them," said Director of Track and Field Annie Bennett. "The guys did pretty much everything they could this weekend. Brent had a great weekend winning the 400m hurdles and finishing fourth in the long jump. I'm happy for him because he has fought through some injuries the last couple of years."

"It was also fun to see Anna win two events," Bennett continued. "She was smiling the entire time and the team really rallied around her."

Seniors Jon Reid and Tyler Dodds finished fourth and fifth in the finals of the men's open 400m dash as each competitor turned in personal-best performances. Reid finished in a time of 46.65 and Dodds crossed the line in 47.48. The duo also teamed with Kevin Smith and Alex Hill to finish fifth in the 4x100m relay with a season-best time of 41.70 and then capped the day with solid legs in the 4x400m relay for the team that finished fourth.

"Tyler Dodds gets the award of the weekend for his performances," said Bennett. "He ran a PR in the 400 into a head wind which just doesn't happen. He gave a tremendous effort and I couldn't be more happy for him."

Alex Gove ran a solid race in the finals of the women's 400m hurdles and finished seventh with a time of 59.80. Earlier in the day, Gove's classmate Caroline Vaughn ran a season-best 13.41 in the 100m hurdles to finish eighth in that event. Her time was just .02 off her school record of 13.39.

Senior Nicole Castronuova, sophomore Myesha Barr and freshman Gwen and Maddy Ricco teamed to finish sixth in the women's 4x100m relay. The team won its heat with a season-best time of 46.49. The 4x400m relay team also took sixth with a time of 3:43.08.

In the finals of the women's 1,500m run, sophomore Dina Nosenko finished seventh with a time of 4:35.83.

The Demon Deacons will now head to the prestigious Penn Relays next weekend in Philadelphia, Pa.
