Women's Track Wraps Up Virginia Tech Elite Meet

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Wake Forest's women's track and field team competed in just three events on Saturday afternoon inside the Rector Field House for the Virginia Tech Elite Meet.
Freshman Allison Johnson and junior Sarah Brobeck were Wake Forest's lone individual competitors of the day. Johnson posted an 11th place finish in the 400m dash while Brobeck's throw of 38-9 (11.81m) in the shot put gave her a 17th place finish.
The 4x400m relay team of Allison Johnson, sophomores Myesha Barr and Maddy Ricco and senior Nicole Castronuova enjoyed a top-10 finish and Wake's top time in the event this season.
The Deacons will return to action next Friday as they travel to the campus of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. for the Liberty Quad Meet.
Following is an event-by-event breakdown from the final day of the Virginia Tech Elite Meet:
400m Dash Open
Allison Johnson competed in the race for the first time and turned in a solid performance, finishing 11th overall with a time of 57.74.
4x400m Relay
Wake Forest's relay team of Myesha Barr, Nicole Castronuova, Allison Johnson and Maddy Ricco finished 10th overall and crossed the line in 3:50.79, the best time in the event for the Deacs so far this season.
Shot Put
Sarah Brobeck finished 17th overall after a throw of 38-9 (11.81m). She has now finished in the top 20 in each of her three shot put events this season.
