Deacs Set to Host Wake Forest Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - After beginning the outdoor season last weekend at the CCU Invitational at Coastal Carolina University, the Wake Forest track and field team returns home to host the Wake Forest Invitational starting on Friday at 9:30 a.m. The event will span two days and take place on Kenter Stadium in the heart of Wake Forest's campus.
Erin Brooks who finished first in the triple jump last weekend with a mark of 11.45m will highlight the field this weekend in the event. She will also run in the 200m race.
Nyki Caldwell a second place finisher last weekend in the high jump is slated to compete Friday. Her mark of 1.70m was just .01 short of her career high.
Steve Michaelsen will throw the shot put and discus this weekend after finishing third in both events at the CCU Invitational.
Mytoia Gathings and Myesha Barr are scheduled for both the 100m and 200m races while Brianna Dekine will run in the 400m race.
Ashley Brubaker, Samantha Jones, Aubrey Waggoner, Kaitlyn Oliver and Kathleen Darling will all run the 1500m and 3000m. Erika Martin will compete in the 100m hurdles. Record-setting duo Sydney White and Katie Adair are set for the pole vault on Saturday.
Daniel Harrison will run the 200m and 400m races while Thomas Bojanowski is seeded for the 800m. Kyle Eager, Micahel McEnany, Alexander Rose, Ryan Horgan, Jake Graham, Sean Lunkenheimer, Nate Gutahls and Anthony Marois will run in the 800m as well.
Malcolm Nunley is poised for the 110m and 400m hurdles while Lunkenheimer will race in the 400m hurdles as well.
Graham and Guthals will run the 3000m steeplechase on Friday. Michael Rufrano is slated for the high jump. Tylor Harris will join Michaelsen in the discus and shot put events along with Nate Wooten in the discus. Wooten will also compete in the hammer throw.
Ben Lincoln who holds the school record in the javelin will compete along with Patrick Donelan and Aiden McConnell.
Results will be posted following each day of the meet. Wake Forest returns to action next Saturday in the HPU Vertklasse Meeting in High Point, N.C.
