
Deacs Move Into 5th At ACC Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest sophomore Marissa Dodd fired a 2-over 73 on Saturday in the second round of the ACC Women's Golf Championship and is in a tie for 10th heading into Sunday's final round.
As a team, the Demon Deacons posted a round of 304 and are in fifth place at 46-over par. Duke has opened-up an 11-shot lead over NC State with a round to play. The Blue Devils are 17-over for the two rounds while State is 28-over and Virginia is 32-over.
Dodd played a second-straight solid round, making a pair of birdies at the par-5 fifth and the par-5 15th. She has made a total of 23 pars over the first two days.
Freshman Mariana Sims made two more birdies in her round on Saturday and finished with a round of 5-over 76. She is 12-over for the tournament while junior Olafia Kristinsdottir is a shot behind her at 13-over after a second round 78. Kristinsdottir closed the round with a nice birdie on the par-5 18th for the second-straight day. Allison Emrey shot a 77 on Saturday and is one shot behind Kristinsdottir at 14-over for the championship.
Senior Greta Lange has carded rounds of 84-86 through the first two days.
Virginia's Brittany Altomare has played extremely consistent over the first two rounds, posting scores of 71-70 (-1) and is the only player in the field under-par. She leads Duke's Lindy Duncan, the defending champion, by three shots heading into the final day.
The Demon Deacons will be in the middle wave for the second-straight day with Florida State and North Carolina. That wave will start off the first tee at 8:50 a.m. Sunday morning.
