Wake Forest Posts Top Marks at Liberty Twilight Qualifier

LYNCHBURG, Va. -The Wake Forest track and field team returned to action this Wednesday for the Liberty Twilight Qualifier hosted by Liberty University. The Deacons competed with surrounding schools Virginia Tech, High Point, Lynchburg, Roanoke, and Campbell among others.
Several Wake Forest athletes had top finishes on the day including several first place finishes.
Men's Javelin Throw
Senior Ben Lincoln sophomore Patrick Donelan entered as the top seeds and took care of business as the duo claimed the top two spots. Lincoln, the school record holder, claimed first with a 69.99m toss while Donelan took second with a 60.80m toss of his own.
Men's Discus Throw
Steve Michaelsen was the lone representative for the Deacons and earned a second place finish. The freshman registered a toss for 163-04 (49.79m).
Men's 400m Hurdles
Senior Sean Lunkenheimer registered a third place with a 52.71 finish.
Men's 800m Run
Michael McEnany led the Deacons with a second place finish coming in at 1:53.40 while Kyle Eager finished just off of his teammates pace to claim third place (1:53.84).
Men's 1,500m Run
Sophomore Kyle Graves led all competitors in the 1,500m run with a first place finish (3:46.09) while junior Alexander Rose claimed seventh place (3:48.82).
Men's Hammer Throw
Junior Nate Wooten locked up the fourth place position after a toss of 152-09 (46.56m).
Women's High Jump
On the women's side of the event, sophomore Nyki Caldwell entered the high jump as the top seed and proved worthy as she leapt her way to a first place finish (1.71m). The sophomore's mark of 1.71m was just .6m short of the Matthes-Hopkins Track Complex record.
Women's Pole Vault
Katie Adair soared to a second place finish as she posted a height of 12-02.5 (3.72m).
Women's 1,500m Run
Sophomore Kaitlyn Oliver and freshman Samantha Jones entered the 1,500m run as top seeds and earned first and second place, respectively. Oliver's 4:33.88 marked a new personal best. Jones finished with a time of 4:34.23.
Wake Forest will take a break this weekend to take final exams and return to action on May 10 in the Georgia Invitational.
