Deacs Begin NCAA East Regional on Thursday

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest track and field team sends 12 student-athletes to the NCAA East Regional First Rounds this week beginning on Thursday at NC A&T State University in Greensboro, N.C.
Competition begins on Thursday and will continue through Saturday night. The top 48 declared athletes in each region per event qualified for the East Regional. The top 12 athletes from each region then advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., from June 5-8.
Wake Forest qualified three freshmen (Steve Michaelsen, Samantha Jones and Katie Adair) along with veterans such as Ben Lincoln who is making is fourth-straight appearance at the NCAA East Regional in hopes of making his third-straight trip to the NCAA Championships.
Thomas Bojanowski, Kyle Graves, Nicole Irving, Patrick Donelan, Nyki Caldwell and Erin Brooks are all making their first appearances at the NCAA East Regional. Alexander Rose competed in the 1500m last year at the regional while Sean Lunkenheimer qualified in 2011 for the 400m hurdles.
Tickets for each day are $10 while an all-meet ticket costs $25. Parking at NC A&T will cost $10 per day. Live results will be provided for all three days of competition.
