NEW ORLEANS - Devin Thomas recorded 13 points and 12 rebounds on Monday night as Wake Forest defeated Tulane 71-49 at Devlin Fieldhouse.

Codi Miller-McIntyre had 12 points and five rebounds for Wake Forest (2-0) with four assists and five rebounds. Darius Leonard added nine points off the bench while Konstantinos Mitoglou had seven points and four rebounds. The Demon Deacons had 33 points from their bench in a collaborative victory.

Wake Forest led big in the first half as the Deacons had a 26-8 lead before the Green Wave fought back to narrow the Deacons' lead to 32-27 at halftime.

The Demon Deacons came out in the second half with a 9-1 run and led by as much as 23 points en route to the 71-49 win. In the dominant second half, Wake Forest limited Tulane to just three second half field goals.

Tulane took an early 6-2 lead in the first half at the 17:11 mark but Wake Forest went on a 20-0 run over the next 9:18. The run was highlighted by a dunk from Thomas and three-pointers from Mitchell Wilbekin and Miles Overton.

Wake Forest led by as much as 26-8 in the first half until Tulane went on a 13-0 run over 4:33 late in the half. The Deacons snapped the Tulane streak with a layup from Miller-McIntyre with 2:11 remaining in the half.

Tulane made it a two-point game with 43 seconds left but Darius Leonard hit a three with 19 seconds on the clock to put Wake Forest up 32-27 at half. Thomas led Wake Forest with seven points and five rebounds in the half but was limited to just eight minutes due to two fouls.

Wake Forest opened the second half on a 9-1 run to go up 41-28. Tulane hit a free throw right after the start of the half but the Deacons went up on a basket from Miller-McIntyre, a three from Mitoglou and buckets from Thomas and McClinton. The Green Wave didn't hit a field goal until the 13:39 mark of the half.

Cornelius Hudson extended the Deacons lead to 15 on a highlight dunk with 12:27 left. Tulane came within 12 points after a layup from Tre Dye with 10:45 remaining in the game but the Deacons responded with an 11-3 run and cruised to a 22-point lead, winning 71-49.

Notes
- The last time Wake Forest won by 20 points or more in a true road game was Jan. 14, 2009 at Boston College in an 83-63 victory.
- Thomas had his second double-double of the season and the 11th of his career. He is second in the ACC in career double-doubles behind Montrezl Harrell of Louisville.
- In last year's meeting between Wake Forest and Tulane, the Demon Deacons were sparked by 34 points off the bench. In Monday's win, the Deacons again had a solid contribution from the bench with 33 points.
- Wake Forest shot 47.5% from the floor and limited Tulane to a 30.0% shooting percentage.
- The Deacons scored 44 points in the paint and had 15 second chance points.
- Wake Forest has started the same five players (Codi Miller-McIntyre, Madison Jones, Greg McClinton, Konstantinos Mitoglou and Devin Thomas) in both games this season.
- Tulane went nearly 10 minutes between baskets in the first half during Wake Forest's 20-0 run. The Green Wave scored at the 17:11 and didn't score against until the 7:53 mark.
- Wake Forest is 6-0 all-time against Tulane and 2-0 against the Green Wave in New Orleans.
