
Wake Forest Falls to Charlotte 12-4

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Wake Forest fell to Charlotte 12-4 on Wednesday night at Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium on the campus of Charlotte.
Wake Forest (26-18, 12-9 ACC) and Charlotte were tied at 2-2 in the fourth but Charlotte added 10 runs and limited the Demon Deacons offensively to close out the game.
Charlie Morgan homered and had two RBIs in the game while Jimmy Redovian and Jonathan Pryor each added an RBI. John McCarren got the first start of his collegiate career while Will Craig, Max Tishman and Matt Pirro pitched in relief.
Charlotte scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning as the 49ers scored on an RBI-single from Grant Dunnegan and Zach Jarrett.
Morgan evened the game at 2-2 in the fourth inning as he launched a home run to right field off the light pole after Grant Shambley was hit by a pitch. It was the third home run for Morgan on the season.
The 49ers responded with two runs in the bottom of the fourth as Charlotte scored on a sacrifice fly and off an error to go up 4-2. Redovian had an RBI-single in the top of the fifth as he lined a base hit to left center, scoring Nate Mondou from second to bring the Deacs within one.
Charlotte though plated two more runs in the sixth and six runs in the seventh to push the lead to 12-3. Pryor grounded out in the ninth for the fourth run of the game for Wake Forest. McCarren took the loss for the Deacs on the mound.
Jarrett had a team-high three RBIs for Charlotte while Corbin Shive earned the win.
Wake Forest hosts Duke this weekend in a pivotal ACC series with first pitch on Friday at 6 p.m.
