Deacons Compete at Wake Forest Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest track and field teams completed competition at the Wake Forest Invitational on Saturday at the JDL Fast Track.
On the women's side, seven competitors had top-three finishes. Natalie Sukramani and Natalie Kendal finished second and third respectively in the mile run. Also earning top-three finishes, Ashley Brubaker and Chandler Borton finished in the top-three in the 3000m run, Madison Bragg finished second in the women's pole vault, Montasisa Golden finished second in the triple jump, and Casidy Callahan finished third in the weight throw.
Leading the way for the men, Charlie Ionata finished in first place in the weight throw and Ikem Okwudiafor won the championship in the 60m hurdles. Ionata finished in first tossing a distance of 17.25m in the weight throw, which missed his PR of 17.94m. Okwudiafor finished with a PR time of 8.24 in the finals to secure the first-place finish.
In addition to Ionata and Okwudiafor for the men, four other competitors had top-three finishes. Some of those include Kyle Johnson who finished second in the weight throw, John Maurins who got second and Max Adams who placed third in the shot put. Luke Annichiarico finished second and Jonathan Denby finished third in the pole vault.
Wake Forest will return to action on January 16-17 to take part in the Commodore Invitational at Vanderbilt University.
