Wake Forest Hosts Davidson
Wake Forest hosts Davidson in the first of two non-conference games to end the regular season.
The game is set for 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Kentner Stadium.
Last Time Out
Wake Forest locked up the No. 2 seed in the ACC Tournament with a 3-2 win over No. 3 North Carolina on Friday at Kentner Stadium.
The Demon Deacons stormed out to a 3-0 lead in the first half and held on as the Tar Heels pulled their keeper with over 10 minutes to play in the second half and scored twice with an extra attacker.
Senior Valerie Dahmen made 11 saves for Wake Forest while three different Demon Deacons provided the goals. Jess Newak scored on a penalty stroke while Madi Julius chipped in her fifth goal of the season and Emily Conroe scored her first.
The Demon Deacons beat UNC for the first time since 2008. The Tar Heels had won 16-straight meetings prior to Friday.
Scouting the Opponent
Davidson is 8-8 on the season coming off a conference loss to Saint Joseph's on Saturday.
The Wildcats are 0-2 against ranked opponents this season with a 4-1 loss at No. 16 Michigan and a 1-0 loss at No. 18 James Madison.
Wake Forest holds a 31-17-2 advantage in the all-time series with Davidson. The Demon Deacons have won 20-straight meetings dating back to 1993.
National Rankings
Wake Forest currently ranks No. 7 in the NFHCA Poll with the latest poll scheduled to come out on Tuesday afternoon prior to the game against Davidson.
All seven ACC field hockey programs are ranked in the Top 14 spots of the NFHCA Poll. The entire ACC has been ranked in 32 consecutive polls, a streak dating to October of 2012.
ACC Tournament
The Demon Deacons are the No. 2 seed for the ACC Tournament and will face Boston College in the quarterfinals on Nov. 5 at 1:30.
Wake Forest beat Boston College 3-2 at Kentner Stadium during the regular season.
Wake Forest is 23-26 all-time in the ACC Tournament and has won four ACC Championships including last year. The Deacs also won in 2002, 2003 and 2006.
Next Time Out
Wake Forest concludes its regular season slate on Sunday against No. 17 Boston University at 1 p.m. The Demon Deacons are 2-0 all-time against the Terriers with wins in 1999 and 2003.
