TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The Wake Forest men's cross country team took a 14th-place finish at the ACC Championship race at the Apalachee Regional Park, in Tallahassee, Fla. Friday morning.
Second-ranked Syracuse won the meet with just 46 team points and was followed by No. 12 NC State and No. 7 Virginia in the top three. Thomas Curtin of Virginia Tech edged out the Orange's Justyn Knight with a 23:23.0 8K time for the individual title.
For the Demon Deacons, Sebastian Fischbach led the way with a 25:37.5 time to place 78th. Alexander Giacco crossed the finish line seven seconds later to come in 83rd.
Rounding out the scoring five for the Deacs were Evan Little in 98th, Kent Garrett in 100th and Simon Holden in 108th.
Fischbach was Wake Forest's top finisher for the first time this season. Garrett was the team's top finisher a year ago at the ACC Championships in Charlottesville, Va. with a 52nd-place finish as the Deacons came in 11th as a team.
Wake Forest will compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional on Nov. 13 in Charlottesville, Va.
