Jones Finishes Sixth at ACC Championships

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Samantha Jones posted the best finish at the ACC Championships by a Wake Forest women's cross country runner since 2010 as the Demon Deacons placed 12th as a team in the 6K meet at the Apalachee Regional Park, in Tallahassee, Fla. Friday morning.
Jones finished in sixth place with a time of 20:22.5. It was the Deacons' best finish at a conference championship meet since Anna Nosenko came in third in 2010 in with a time of 20:04.4 in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
A senior from Randolph, N.J., Jones garnered All-ACC honors for the second-straight season after placing 21st at the 2014 league meet in Charlottesville, Va.
No. 7-ranked Virginia won the ACC title with 71 team points, edging out No. 8 NC State, which had 75 team points, and third-place finisher Notre Dame, which had 96 points and was headed by individual champion Molly Seidel.
For the Demon Deacons, 2015 Wake Forest Invitational champion Ellie Abrahamson turned in a 34th-place finish, completing the course in just over 21 minutes.
Following Abrahamson in the Deacons' top five were Kathryn Lazarchick in 78th, Jenna Truedson in 95th and Cate Allen in 98th.
Wake Forest will compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional on Nov. 13 in Charlottesville, Va.
