WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Dearica Hamby had a career night but it wasn't enough to get Wake Forest past Boston College on Thursday at the LJVM Coliseum. The Eagles held on for a 75-74 win over the Demon Deacons.

Wake Forest erased an early 13-point deficit and led by as many as seven points in the second half. Boston College's Nicole Boudreau made two free throws with 1:36 remaining in the game to give the Eagles the 75-74 advantage. BC played physical defense in the final 90 seconds to keep Wake Forest from scoring and hold on for the win.

Hamby scored 36 points with a career-high 20 rebounds in the game and freshman Amber Campbell poured in a career-high 20 points. Boston College matched the Deacs with a career-high 32 points from Kelly Hughes.

Hamby moved up two spots on Wake Forest's all-time scoring list with her 36-point performance. She now ranks third with 1,673 points.

Hughes scored 13 points in the first ten minutes of the game to help the Eagles jump out to a 23-10 lead. An Emilee Daley trey kept the Boston College lead at 10, 31-21, with 4:47 remaining in the opening half. Wake Forest closed the gap to four with an 11-5 run to end the first half. Hamby and Campbell combined for the first six points and Ataijah Taylor drained a three-pointer to end the half with Wake Forest trailing 36-32.

The second half featured five ties and 12 lead changes. The first tie came less than two minutes in to the half when Campbell grabbed a steal and scored an easy layup to knot the score 36-36.

Hamby scored eight-straight Wake Forest points to give the Demon Deacons a 70-65 advantage with 4:13 remaining in the game. Mykia Jones sank two from the charity stripe to push Wake Forest's lead to 72-65, the Deacons biggest lead of the night.

Daley ended the Wake Forest run with a three pointer. That basket sparked an 8-0 burst for the Eagles that gave them a 73-72 lead with just under three minutes to play. Hamby and Taylor hit one free throw each to briefly give the Deacs a 74-73 lead.

Boudreau was fouled with 1:36 to play and made both the free throws that proved to be the difference in the game as the Eagles won 75-74.
