Wake Forest Competes at UCS Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's and women's track and field teams competed at the UCS Invitational on Saturday at the JDL Fast Track.
The Demon Deacons used the meet to give their distance runners action before next weekend's 2015 ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships. Between the two teams, 11 athletes set new personal records, including six for the women and five for the men.
Leading the way for the women was Cate Allen who finished first in the 3000m run and set a new personal record. Kathleen Darling, Ellie Abrahamson, Chandler Borton, and Gabrielle Merritt all earned top-10 finishes and each set a new personal record.
For the men, Evan Little finished a team-best third place in the 3000m and set a new personal record. Charles Shackelford also set a new personal record in the 3000m run. In addition, Alexander Giacco and Thomas Ross set new personal bests in the 5000m and Ryan Horgan set a personal record in the 800m.
Wake Forest returns to action next weekend Feb. 26-28 in Blacksburg, Va. to compete in the 2015 ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
