Deacons Conclude Day One of ACC Championships

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's and women's track and field teams concluded day one of the 2015 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday at the at Rector Field House on the Virginia Tech campus.
After the completion of day one, the women's team stands in a four-way tie for 10th place after three events have been scored and the men are also in a tie for 10th place. Day two of the meet begins tomorrow at 11 a.m. with the second half of the men's heptathlon.
Amy Collins - Pentathlon - 7th - 3,503
Sophomore Amy Collins finished a career-best seventh place and set a personal best score in the women's pentathlon on Thursday. In the first event, she finished 10th and set a PR in the (9.37) 60m hurdles. She then earned a top-five finish in the high jump with just three events remaining. After finishing up the shot put and long jump, she rounded out the pentathlon with a fifth place finish in the 800m run to finish the competition. She earned two team-points for the Deacons with her finish.
Women's Distance Medley Relay (DMR) - 8th - 11:29.60
The women's DMR team of sophomore Kathryn Lazarchick, and freshmen Nikolete Hurrinus, Lara-Ann Schwede and Cate Allen finished in eighth place on Thursday. The finish earned the women's track and field team a point in the team scoring.

Alexander Krall - Heptathlon - 11th (through four events) - 2,663
Junior Alex Krall wrapped up day one of the heptathlon finishing up four events on Thursday. Krall started out strong with a fourth place finish and set a new personal record (7.26) in the 60m dash. After competing in the long jump and setting a PR in the shot put (11.84m), he then finished up the day tying for sixth and setting a PR (1.87m) in the high jump. The final three events of the heptathlon will be completed tomorrow.
Men's Distance Medley Relay (DMR) - 6th - 9:46.71
Last week's indoor school record setting DMR team of freshman Sebastian Fischbach, sophomore Simon Holden, and seniors Daniel Harrison and Kyle Graves, finished in sixth place on Thursday. The finish scored three team points for the Wake Forest men's track and field team.
