CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Wake Forest totaled 13 hits and took advantage of a gem on the mound from Paul Kirkpatrick to defeat Charlotte, 6-1, at Hayes Stadium on Tuesday night.

Kirkpatrick (3-2) tossed a career-high 6.0 innings, allowing one run on six hits without allowing a walk to earn the win.

The Demon Deacons (23-19) batted around in the fourth to score the first four runs of the game. Kevin Conway, Nate Mondou and Stuart Fairchild had RBI singles, and Justin Yurchak added an RBI walk in the inning.

After Charlotte (13-21) plated a run in the fourth, Yurchak homered against the 49ers for the second time in as many games this season. He drilled his fourth longball of 2015 over the right-field wall to make the score 6-1 in the sixth.

John McCarren struck out two in 2.0 innings, allowing just one baserunner, and Donnie Sellers rolled a game-ending double play in a scoreless ninth inning.

For the first time this season, Wake Forest pitchers did not issue a walk in a game.

Gavin Sheets posted his first-carer three-hit game, and Will Craig reached base in four of his five appearances, finishing 2-for-3 with a double and two walks.

Wake Forest will now return home after eight straight on the road, playing host to Notre Dame from Friday-Sunday. Saturday and Sunday's games will air live on ESPN3.
