
Demon Deacon Women Fifth at Furman Classic

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Wake Forest women's cross country team had a fifth place finish Saturday morning at the 2015 Furman Classic. Samantha Jones and Ellie Abrahamson had top-10 finishes to lead the Demon Deacons.
Wake Forest was fifth at the meet with 95 points, finishing behind Auburn, Georgia, Furman and Clemson in the 13-team race.
Jones, making her season debut after earning All-ACC honors last season, finished fourth, crossing in a time of 21.13.81. Abrahamson, also making her season debut, was seventh in a time of 21:21.76.
Kathryn Lazarchick finished 26th in her season debut, while Elizabeth Parrish and Meredith Smith, the Deacons' top two finishers at last week's Elon Open, rounded out the scoring five in 30th and 33rd place, respectively.
The Demon Deacons will travel to South Carolina again next week to compete at the Winthrop Adidas Invitational on Sept. 19.
