Wake Forest Wraps Up Camel City Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM. N.C. – The Wake Forest men's and women's track and field teams completed competition at the Camel City Invitational at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem on Sunday. Three Demon Deacon student-athletes also competed in the Camel City Elite races.
In total, Wake Forest was represented in eight events and had eight top-five finishes.
Freshman Robert Heppenstall took third in the men's 800m at the Camel City Elite with a 1:50.61 performance. Also in the Elite races were Simon Holden and Samantha Jones. Holden took fifth in the men's mile with a 4:10.95 time and Jones placed ninth with a 9:44.43 time in the women's 3,000m. ¬¬
The Deacons fared well in the men's and women's shot put. On the men's side, John Maurins came in second with a mark of 17.59m. Max Adams took fifth. Andrea Vahoua was the women's runner up with a throw of 13.31m.
Also placing in the top three in their events were Luke Annichiarico and Sydney White, competing in the men's and women's pole vault, respectively.
Wake Forest's next competition will be next week at the Virginia Tech Elite Meet. It will be the teams' first meet away from Winston-Salem on the season.
