
Demon Deacons Claim Six Titles at UNC-Greensboro Duals

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest opened the indoor track season Sunday, Dec. 4, as the Deacs ran at the UNC-Greensboro Duals. The Demon Deacons claimed six individual titles, including five in the field events, in their first meet of the season.
Wake Forest swept the pole vault competitions as Luke Annichiarico (4.40m) and Tesia Kempski (3.50m) won the men's and women's events, respectively. Madison Bragg also placed in the women's pole vault, clearing 3.35 meters to take second.
The Deacs also claimed both the men's and women's titles in the weight throw. Charlie Ionata paced the men with a throw of 19.37m while Alva Hicks claimed the women's title with a mark of 17.96m. Kyle Johnson followed Ionata with a second-place finish in the event (18.34m).
Wake Forest's final individual field title came in the men's shot put where Max Adams won the event with a mark of 15.71m. Frank Ahern earned a fourth-place finish with a throw of 14.26m. On the women's side, Emily Campbell (12.83m) and Casidy Callahan (12.82m) finished second and third, respectively.
Simon Holden claimed the lone track title when he won the men's mile in a time 4:19.11. The Deacs also received a third-place finish in the event from John Archie (4:27.02).
Amy Collins had a pair of top-three finishes, finishing tied for second in the women's high jump (1.65m) and third in the women's long jump (5.34m). Collins was joined in a tie for second place in the high jump with Alexandria Florent.
Peter Millsaps claimed second in the men's 3000, crossing the line in a time of 9:01.63.
The men's 4x400 `A' relay claimed third with a time of 3:23.85 and Hunter Roberts placed third as well in the women's 60-meter hurdles (8.73).
The Deacs rounded out competition with a third-place showing in the men's 800 by Andrew Fea (1:55.92).
Wake Forest is back in action following the holiday break on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 13-14, at the Virginia Tech Invitational.
