The Match-Up
• Wake Forest plays the first game of a home-and-home series with Davidson in a 4 p.m. contest at David F. Couch Ballpark on Tuesday.
Wake Forest Storylines
• Wake Forest experienced success in all three facets of the game, finishing the opening weekend with a perfect 3-0 record with victories against Georgetown (3-1), UMBC (10-8) and VMI (8-4).
• Parker Dunshee set the tone for the Demon Deacons on Friday, tossing 6.0 scoreless innings, striking out eight while allowing four hits and no walks. Johnny Aiello hit a pair of homers in his first collegiate game.
• Will Craig highlighted Saturday's win over UMBC. The reigning ACC Player of the Year finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, homer, walk and four RBIs, also tossing a 1-2-3 ninth inning to pick up the save.
• On Sunday, Craig and Nate Mondou combined for two homers, five hits and seven RBIs to lead the offensive attack in a win over VMI. Drew Loepprich allowed two runs in 7.0 frames, while Donnie Sellers entered with the bases loaded for the second time on the weekend, again stranding every runner as he picked up his second save.
• Wake Forest cranked seven homers - two apiece from Craig and Aiello and one each from Mondou, Ben Breazeale and Kevin Conway. The seven homers is the most through three games since 1999, a year in which the program set a record for homers in a season.
• Wake Forest is 3-0 for the first time since opening the year 6-0 in 2009.
The Opposition & Series History
• Wake Forest and Davidson have met 67 times, with Wake Forest holding a 54-13 advantage all-time.
• Last year, the teams were rained out twice. They attempted to play on April 15, but the game was called in the fourth inning in a 3-3 deadlock. Craig was 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs at the time of the postponement.
• The last official meetings came in 2014, when the two squads split a pair of one-run ballgames, with each team defending its home field.
• The Wildcats hosted a season-opening tournament, finishing with a 2-1 record. They defeated Marist (4-3) and Buffalo (5-0) before falling to Air Force (9-4).
On Deck
• Wake Forest is set to hit the road for the first time, traveling to No. 21 USC for a three-game set from Feb. 26-28.
