Wake Forest Storylines
• Wake Forest had just one midweek game for the first time since February, earning a walk-off, 6-5 victory over Charlotte, avenging a walk-off loss last week.
• Keegan Maronpot knocked in four of Wake Forest's six runs, including a solo homer and the game-winning RBI. Ben Breazeale added three hits, a walk and two runs scored to lead the offense.
• Wake Forest's bullpen posted another strong effort, allowing two runs over 8.0 innings. John McCarren, Garrett Kelly, Chris Farish and Donnie Sellers recorded perfect outings.
• Sophomore outfielder Stuart Fairchild has increased his batting average more than 80 points over the last seven games, from .184 to .269. He's hitting .414 (12-for-29) over that span with two doubles, a triple, home run, eight RBIs and five runs scored.
• The back end of Wake Forest's bullpen remains impressive. Sellers, Will Craig and John McCarren have combined for a 5-2 record, 1.23 ERA and five saves, along with a 31-to-10 strikeout to walk ratio in 44 innings.
• Craig returned to the starting lineup Saturday after missing six straight games, and went 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored, but he missed Tuesday's game. The Deacs are 2-5 without Craig in the lineup after he tweaked his oblique on March 11, and he remains day-to-day.
The Opposition & Series History
• Duke has a recent edge in the series, claiming six of the last seven games. Last year, Wake Forest needed to win one of the final two games of the season against Duke to clinch a spot in the ACC Tournament, but Duke claimed both to clinch the series and end Wake Forest's season.
• The Blue Devils earned a three-game sweep of the Deacons the last time they came to Winston-Salem in 2014.
• Duke enters with a 10-11 record, dropping four straight to East Carolina and North Carolina, and seven of the last nine.
• Duke pitchers have combined for a 3.49 ERA, allowing opponents to hit just .227. The Blue Devils have a team batting average of .242, led by Cris Perez who's hitting .292 with eight doubles.
On Deck
• Wake Forest heads into an eight-game road swing. The Demon Deacons travel to Elon for a Tuesday game at 6 p.m. before traveling to Notre Dame next weekend.
