ELON, N.C. -- Ten Wake Forest pitchers combined to allow just one earned run in a 4-3 victory over Elon at Latham Park on Tuesday night.
No Demon Deacon (17-10) pitcher went more than 2.0 innings, as Elon (9-15) mustered a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the second and its only earned run in the ninth.
Will Craig finished 2-for-4 with his ninth home run of the season, an opposite field blast in the top of the eighth which proved to be the difference in the game.
Chris Farish (1-1) picked up the win on the mound. He entered with runners on the corners and one out in the sixth and struck out back-to-back batters to end the inning.
Donnie Sellers recorded his third save after pitching the ninth inning. A leadoff walk came around to score on a bloop double, before a game-ending flyout.
Drew Loepprich and Parker Johnson were the only two relievers to pitch more than a full inning, and each entered with two runners on and escaped jams in the seventh and fourth innings, respectively.
Wake Forest trailed 2-1 heading into the seventh. Gavin Sheets, Kevin Conway and Jonathan Pryor walked, then Joey Rodriguez hit a game-tying sacrifice fly and Conway scored on a wild pitch to make the score 3-2 before Craig's homer the next inning.
In addition to Craig, Conway and Nate Mondou added two hits apiece. Sheets had the last Wake Forest hit, also adding a walk and two runs scored.
Griffin Roberts started for the first time in his career and allowed a pair of unearned runs in 2.0 innings.
Garrett Kelly, Christian Bartholomew, Ryan Morse, Aaron Fossas and Rayne Supple also posted scoreless outings in relief.
The Demon Deacons return to ACC action this weekend, traveling to Notre Dame for a three-game set from Friday-Sunday.
