
Deacons Continue Play at Darius Rucker Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Wake Forest women's golf team continued play Saturday at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at the Long Cove Club. The Demon Deacons posted their second consecutive 16-over round of 300 and are in 13th place at the event through two rounds, which features 12 of the top 50 teams in the nation, including the top four in the latest Golfstat rankings.
Freshman Jennifer Kupcho is continues to lead the Demon Deacons. She is 5-over for the tournament, tied for 23rd place, after a second-round 76. She is tied with Erica Herr, who is playing as an individual, at 5-over after Herr posted a 2-under round of 69 on Saturday.
Sierra Sims and Ines Laklalech are both tied for 53rd place at 9-over for the tournament. Sims shot a 74 on Saturday while Laklalech carded a round of 77. Mariana Sims posted a 73 on Saturday and is in 68th place at 11-over for the tournament.
"We hit a lot of good shots today, but did not finish as strong as we wanted," said head coach Dianne Dailey. "We are very close to having everyone play well. This is an unforgiving course and it is easy to take a big number."
The tournament concludes Sunday at the Long Cove Club.
