GREENSBORO, N.C. – Wake Forest sophomore Stuart Fairchild was voted as the ACC Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday evening.
Fairchild wrapped up the week with a .588 average and 13 RBIs in addition to three doubles, a triple and a home run, helping Wake Forest to a series win at Virginia Tech and midweek victory at High Point.
He helped Wake Forest's offense total 25 extra-base hits and 40 runs in the series win against the Hokies.
The Seattle, Washington native recorded multiple RBIs in every game and multiple hits in each of the three games at Virginia Tech. He also tallied his team-leading 14th stolen base, and now leads the squad with 18 doubles.
This season, Fairchild is the only Deacon to start all 51 games. He's hitting .314 with three longballs and 42 RBIs in addition to 36 walks.
Four different Demon Deacons have received a weekly ACC honor this year for the first time since 2000, a year in which the Deacs won 41 games.
Fairchild joins Will Craig (March 7), Parker Dunshee (April 18) and Nate Mondou (May 9) as weekly honorees this season.
Wake Forest is back in action on Tuesday at Marshall. Game time has been changed to 4 p.m. due to expected rain.
