CARY, N.C. - The Wake Forest cross country team was back in action on Friday (Sept. 16), as the Deacs ran at the Adidas Cross Country Challenge in Cary, North Carolina. The women's team had a stellar run, finishing fourth out of 17 teams, while the men's side was right behind them with a sixth-place effort (12 total teams).

Cate Allen finished 10th overall for the women, eighth among attached runners, to pace the Deacs. The junior finished the 5k course in a time of 17:41.7 while Mimi Smith (18:00.4), Samantha Halvorsen (18:13.0) and Ellie Abrahamson (18:19.1) finished in 22nd, 26th and 28th place, respectively. Sophomore Isabelle Harouche rounded out the Demon Deacon scoring with a 42nd-place finish.

Craig Corti led the men, who ran a 6k, as he posted a time of 18:29.3 to finish 19th place. Senior Harry Warnick finished six runners later, as he crossed the line in 18:41.3. The Deacs also received scoring efforts from Alexander Giacco (19:15.8, 48th), Peter Millsaps (19:22.1, 53rd) and Simon Holden (19:24.5, 56th).

Wake Forest will race again in three weeks as the Deacs travel to Charlotte, North Carolina, for the Royals Challenge. The meet is set to begin at 4 p.m.
