WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Freshman Jessica Molina was in action this past weekend at the South American U23 Championship, held in Lima, Peru. The three-day championship, held September 23-25, saw the freshman represent Ecuador in the shot put.

A native of Westwood, N.J., Molina placed sixth overall in the event with a top mark of 13.67m (44' 10 ¼"). The freshman, who has dual citizenship with Ecuador, is a member of Ecuador's U20 world team and was ranked No. 14 in the world at the U17 level in 2015.

Molina capped her high school career as a two-time All-American in the shot put and helped lead Westwood Regional High School to a pair of sectional state championships.
