CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Wake Forest women's golf team continued play Saturday with the second round of the Ruth's Chris Lady Tar Heel Invitational at North Carolina's Finley Golf Course. For the second consecutive day the Demon Deacons shot a 1-over 289 and are T-8th at 2-over through 36 holes.
A pair of Demon Deacons are tied for fifth on the individual leaderboard at 5-under through two rounds. Jennifer Kupcho, the event's defending champion, shot 73 in the second round. She is tied with her teammate, Emilia Migliaccio, who shot a second-round 70.
Siyun Liu shot 70 on Saturday to move to 3-under for the tournament. Monica Schumacher shot her best round as a Demon Deacon, posting a 4-over 76, to round out the scoring four during the second round.
"We had more balanced scoring from the team today," said head coach Dianne Dailey. "Both Jennifer and Emilia are in position to make a run for the individual title tomorrow. If everyone plays as they are capable, we can move up the leaderboard tomorrow. I was really pleased with Monica today. She was steady all day and made a terrific birdie on the last hole to shoot 76, her low collegiate round."
The tournament concludes Sunday in Chapel Hill.
