Roberts Named ACC Pitcher of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Wake Forest junior Griffin Roberts was named the ACC Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Roberts had another dominant effort in a 2-1 victory over No. 11 Louisville on Friday night. Over a career-high 8.1 innings, he fanned a career-best 13 batters, allowing just one run on five hits and three walks.
The Midlothian, Virginia native leads the ACC and ranks third in the nation with 53 strikeouts, just three off the national lead.
A converted closer, Roberts also ranks atop ACC pitchers with 35.0 innings pitched this spring.
His efforts Friday led the Demon Deacons to their first-ever series win over the Cardinals, and gives Wake Forest back-to-back ACC series wins over top-15 foes after beating No. 3 Florida State last weekend.
