Record Falls as Deacs Sweep Fighting Irish

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Skander Mansouri etched his name into the record book Sunday (April 1) afternoon as the top-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team swept No. 25 Notre Dame, 7-0, at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex.
Mansouri became Wake Forest's all-time leader in career doubles victories with 109 when he and partner Ian Dempster opened doubles play with a 6-4 victory over the 80th ranked tandem of Brendon Kempin and Tristan McCormick. The native of Tunis, Tunisia surpassed the previous record of 108, which was held by Cory Parr.
Petros Chrysochos extended his winning streak to 12 consecutive matches with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles, with all 12 victories coming in straight sets, as the Demon Deacons (16-2, 5-1 ACC) rolled past the Fighting Irish (12-11, 3-4 ACC).
The Deacs clinched the doubles point with Mansouri and Dempster's win at No. 1 doubles paired with a 6-2 victory by Chrysochos and Botzer at the No. 2 position to give Wake Forest the 1-0 lead into singles.
Mansouri and Chrysochos won within moments of each other to quickly put Wake Forest up 3-0 in the match before Botzer cliched the match with a 3-6, 6-0, 6-4 victory in the No. 4 spot.
Borna Gojo picked up a ranked win at No. 1 singles, topping No. 48 Alex Lebedev, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3, to extend the lead to 5-0. Alan Gadjiev posted a 6-1, 6-7 (6-8), 6-1 victory at the No. 5 spot to make it 6-0 before Eduardo Nava capped the day with a 4-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 victory down in the No. 6 position.
Wake Forest remains at home for their next contest, a Friday (April 6) match against Clemson. First serve at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex is set for 4 p.m.
